Alp Yenen is a university lecturer for modern Turkish history and culture at the Leiden University Institute for Area Studies. Previously, he was a research associate and senior resident at the University of Basel as well as a doctoral fellow of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. He is specialized on the connected history of revolutionary politics at the end of the Ottoman Empire. Currently, he is doing research on the history of the Cold War and political violence in Turkey during the long 1970s. His work is published in journals such as Contemporary European History (forthcoming), Behemoth – A Journal on Civilisation, Die Welt des Islams: International Journal for the Study of Modern Islam, and Middle Eastern Studies. Moreover, his co-edited volume, Age of Rogues: Rebels, Revolutionaries, and Racketeers at the Frontiers of Empires is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press in 2021.
